Albert Hulsey

January 26, 1923 — November 16, 2008

Mr. Albert (Bert) Hulsey, age 85, of 436 Hugh Deems Road, Cedartown passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 in a Rome Medical Center following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Paulding County, GA on January 26, 1923 a son of the late William Bennett Hulsey and Nancy Alice Hulsey. Mr. Hulsey had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County where he was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the Philippines. He retired in 1982 from the Marquette Cement Company where he was employed for 28 years.


He was preceded in death by three sisters: Vassie Hulsey, Gaynell Moore and Ruth Hughes and by five brothers: Aaron, P.H., Harve, Leonard and Mack Hulsey.


Survivors include his his wife, Mrs. Avanell Hughes Hulsey of Cedartown to whom he was married on July 25, 1947; two daughters: Ms Judy Hulsey, Cedartown and Mrs. Renee Pinkard and her husband Barry of Rockmart; one son, Mr. Danny Hulsey and his wife Brenda of Cedartown; two grandchildren: Ryan Pinkard and Stephanie Sweat and her husband Shane; two great grandchildren: Savannah and Harley Sweat.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Hopkins and Rev. Ryan Hale officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.


Pallbearers will include: Pete Buckner, Bert White, Steve Mason, Steve White, Walter Zuker and Ken Adams. Bobby White and former employees of Marquette Cement Company will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Albert (Bert) Hulsey.
