Allie Ruth Mitchell

Mrs. Allie Ruth Mitchell, age 96, of 462 Clearwater Street Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Polk Medical Center, Cedartown.


She was born in Carroll County, GA on November 14, 1913 a daughter of the late Arto Cook and Dessie Haney Cook. Mrs. Mitchell had been a resident of Rockmart since 1937. She was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church of Lindale and was a retired employee of the Goodyear Mill. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. T.R. (Ted) Mitchell on October 25, 1963 and by three brothers and a grandson Michael Paul Yarbrough.


Survivors include three daughters: Leola Yarbrough, Rockmart, Sarah Ruth Garrett, Rockmart and Gladys Robinson, Aragon; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren and two step grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. James Guy officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include: William and Terry Robinson, Lee Yarbrough, Bobby and Robby Garrett and Lemans Forsyth.


The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
