Mrs. Alma C. Long, age 98, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Long was born in Shannon, GA, on June 17, 1926, a daughter of the late John Riley Cope and Anie Hicks Cope. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church. Mrs. Long retired from Goodyear Mill after 37 years of service. She loved coloring in coloring books and loved children and helping others.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, M.L. Long, daughter, Patricia Ann Winkles, brother, Leroy Cope, and three sisters, Louise Sewell, Mae Goddard, and Mary Simpson.
Mrs. Long is survived by a daughter, Charlene Bullard of Rockmart; three sons, Jackie (Betty Jean) Cope, and Jerry Wayne Long, Sr., both of Rockmart, and Andy (Michelle) Long of Plainville, GA. Twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Long will be held on Friday afternoon, October 4, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey and Danny Goddard officiating.
Mrs. Long’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday evening, October 3, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
