Alma Louise Kay Harris

Mrs. Alma Louise Kay Harris, age 98, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, December 26, 2023.

Mrs. Harris was born in the Piney Woods community of Bartow County, GA, on July 8, 1925, a daughter of the late John Kay and Louise Moore Kay. She was a 1944 graduate of Taylorsville High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. In her younger years, Mrs. Harris was employed with Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, GA, during World War II and because of her small size, she helped place electrical components in the wings. She enjoyed hunting and gardening and cherished her time with family with great devotion. Mrs. Harris attended Taylorsville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert John Harris, in February of 2002, whom she married September 7, 1945. She was the last of eight siblings.

Mrs. Harris is survived by two daughters, Janice Ray, and Maxine (Ronnie) Johnson; five sons, Robert Harris, Richard (Kathy) Harris, John (Patsy) Harris, Joe (Linda) Harris, and Larry (Cindy) Harris. Forty-one grandchildren, eighty great-grandchildren and forty-five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Stilesboro Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include Andy Harris, Thad Harris, Trevor Harris, Joseph Harris, Johnny Harris, Joseph Hubert Worley, Matthew Harris and Blake Harris. Honorary pallbearers will include Keenan Ray, Kaleb Ray and Chase Harris.
