Arthur James (Art) Soles

Mr. Arthur James (Art) Soles, age 78, of 2475 Cedartown Highway, Rockmart passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 in a Rome Medical Center following a one year illness.


He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 26, 1930 a son of the late Charles Arthur Soles and Margaret Gipson Soles. Mr. Soles had been a resident of Rockmart since 1970 moving here from Tennessee. He was employed as a long distance truck driver for 30 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Soles was a member of the Assembly of God Church located in Cedartown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Shirley Soles on December 3, 1978, by his second wife, Mrs. Mary Soles on July 10, 2007, by a brother, Robert Soles, a sister, Shirley Murphy and a grandson, Michael Charles Moore.


He is survived by a son, Mr. Charles Soles and his wife Jill of Rockmart; by three daughters: Mrs. Cathie Hendrix and her husband Steve, Rockmart, Mrs. Beverly Cline and her husband Darrell, Rockmart and Mrs. Michelle Mondy and her husband Jim of Collinsville, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.


Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Robinson and Dr. Jerry Butram officiating.


The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until the memorial hour at the funeral home.
