Betty Peek Bond

Mrs. Betty Peek Bond, age 95, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Bond was born in Dayton, OH, on July 14, 1929, daughter of the late Jimmy Peek and Peggy Peoples Peek. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Bond was employed by Amoco Corporation, working in the clerical department. She was a member of Rockmart First Baptist Church and taught pre-school for several years. Everyone thought of her as a fantastic teacher. She enjoyed researching genealogies, sewing and working puzzles. Mrs. Bond cherished her time with family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Shanks, her second husband, Fred Bond; a step-son, David Bond, a son-in-law, Chuck Lane, a daughter-in-law, Donna Jo Shanks, and a nephew, David Martin.

Mrs. Bond is survived by her daughter, Lee Lane; son, Jim Shanks; four grandchildren, Sean (Lori) Shanks, Griffin Shanks, Stephanie Adams, and Bryant Lane; great-grandchildren, Dylan Shanks, Sydney Shanks, Eli Shanks, Ty Magill, and Stella Adams; sister, Patty Martin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Celebration of life services for Mrs. Bond will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the Fellowship Hall of Rockmart First Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Blackmon officiating and memories shared by family and friends. The family request those attending the service please wear bright colors.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Pre-School or the First Methodist Church Pre-School.
