Mrs. Betty Jean Lumpkin, age 89, of Rockmart passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at her residence.
She was born in Rockmart, GA on January 17, 1931, a daughter of the late Chesley W. Holland and the late Edith Suits Holland. Mrs. Lumpkin had lived all of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She had a love for music, playing the guitar, and singing in the church choir. Mrs. Lumpkin also enjoyed reading and sewing. She had a great love for her family and touched many lives through the years as owner/operator of Mrs. Betty's Daycare.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lumpkin on September 24, 2015; daughter, Lori Dunn; son, Phil Lumpkin; two brothers: Kennon Holland and Heslip Holland; and two sisters: Sally Sanders and JoAnn Hulsey.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Lumpkin Samples of Rockmart; three grandchildren: Wesley Howard Samples, Crystal Shay Spexarth, and Jessica Sharee Dunn; two great-grandchildren: Sydney Lorin Spexarth, and Silas Grayson Staples; brother, Bud Holland; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Tony Samples, Wesley Samples, Titus McBride, Seth Little, Stephen Dean, and Allen Dunn.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will apply and masks are recommended.
