Mrs. Betty Jean Woodard, age 84, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 in a Rome medical center.
She was born in Waynesville, NC on December 4, 1932, a daughter of Robert Buchanan and Anna Paris Buchanan. Mrs. Woodard had been a resident of Rockmart for the past twenty-two years, moving here from Marietta, GA. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Dallas, GA and was a longtime employee of Walmart, working in the Hiram location as a greeter. Mrs. Woodard enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, growing flowers and spending time with her dog, LaLa.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Woodard on August 27, 1993; by four brothers: Robert, Glenn, Claude and Floyd Buchanan and by a sister, Grace Sizemore.
Survivors include two daughters: Linda White (Lamar), Rockmart and Shelia Smith (Rusty), Rockmart; son, James Woodard (Glenna), Acworth; six grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; and longtime companion, Duane Wilson, Rockmart.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11. 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Teal officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
