Mr. Bill M. Williams, age 70, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 following a four year illness.

He was born in Haralson County, GA on January 15, 1944, a son of the late Charles Roy Williams and Ruth Thomasson Williams. Bill had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County where he was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He had served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Army followed by thirty years of service in the Georgia Army National Guard, retiring as a First Sergeant. He had also held a Civil Service position as administrator of the National Guard Armory located in Cedartown. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Diane Williams on December 8, 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Williams of Rockmart to whom he was married on January 11, 1975; four children: Rev. Donald Lester and wife Brenda, Rockmart, Ruth Weathington and husband Mitchell, Vero Beach, FL, Harold Lester, Calhoun and Ricky Lester, Rockmart; brother, Ray Williams and wife Elaine, Rockmart; brother in law, Willard Williams, Rockmart; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Parris and Rev. Gary Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Donald Lester officiating and Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
