Mr. Billy George Holland, age 79, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Cedartown, GA.
He was born in Rockmart, GA on May 13, 1937 a son of James Willis Holland and Hattie Elizabeth Hulsey Holland. Mr. Holland had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County; was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was a longtime employee of the Goodyear Mill having worked in both Rockmart and Cartersville. While at Goodyear he also had served as President of the Local Union. Billy enjoyed spending time at the local flea markets, watching classic western movies, working in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Hubert Joe Holland and Bobby Franklin Holland and by a sister, Shirley Stephens.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Streetman Holland, Centre, AL; two daughters: Tina Carden, Rome and Deirdre Miller, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Mitch Hulsey, Laycee Carden, Chris Underwood, Allison Helmes and Dallas O'Connor; two great grandchildren: Caroline Avery Hulsey and Scarlett Ann Hulsey; three sisters: Evelyn Leggett, Rockmart, Brenda Spain, Douglasville and Imogene Mull, Cedartown; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Calvary Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Dyer, Levi Wyatt and Edward Streetman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.
Pallbearers will include: Eric Summerville, Doug Wheeler, Chad Spain, Derek Tilley, George Bonds and Wayne Leggett. Honorary pallbearers will include: William Taylor, David Tayler, Frank Statham, Phil Tilley and Danny Spain.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
