Bobbie Jane Garner Barnes

Mrs. Bobbie Jane Garner Barnes, age 84, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday evening, September 19, 2024, at her residence.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Van Wert, GA, on September 23, 1939, daughter of the late Parker Garner and Lola Thompson Garner. She had lived all her life in Rockmart and was a 1958 graduate of Rockmart High School. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Rockmart Second Baptist Church and made her life to be a servant for everyone else. For many years she had worked with Trend Mills prior to retiring from Marbut Binder Company. Mrs. Barnes enjoyed reading, baking, working in her garden, and going to estate sales and yard sales. She cherished her time with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny H. Barnes, on March 9, 2009, whom she married February 20, 1959, and a son, Mark Barnes.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by two sons, Andy Barnes and Barry Barnes; two grandchildren, David Barnes and Janie Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Allena James-Duran, Allison James, and Gavin Barnes; sister, Carolyn Braswell; brother Robert Garner. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barnes will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Barnes’ family will receive friends Saturday evening, September 21, 2024, at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Andy Barnes, Barry Barnes, David Barnes, Gavin Barnes, Bob Garner, Tony Barnes, and Jeff Barnes.
