Bobby Joe Turner

Mr. Bobby Joe Turner, age 71, of 100 Church Street Rockmart ( the Van Wert community) passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center following a lengthy illness.


He was born in Aragon, GA on October 25, 1937 a son of the late Jessie Paul Turner and Lilly Lee Mason Turner. Mr. Turner had live all of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Van Wert Baptist Church. He worked in the textile industry for many years and most recently had worked for Tip Top Poultry of Rockmart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Orie Conine and by a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Ingram on March 27, 2008.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena Lee McDonald Turner of Rockmart to whom he was married on January 23, 1959; two daughters: Mrs. Glenda Williams and her husband John of Rockmart and Mrs. Miranda Waters and her husband Jason of Rockmart; nine grandchildren: Jamie Moody, Linda Sue Waits, Brian and Nikki Pyles, Heather and Andy Campbell, Lacey Sides, Landon Sides and Lane Sides; 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.


Memorial services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Pyles officiating.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial hour at the funeral home.
