Mr. Bobby Lee Throneberry, age 77, of 1249 Bells Ferry Road, Rome, GA passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Floyd Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee on March 27, 1932 a son of the late Oscar Lee Throneberry and Florence Louise Timmons Throneberry. Mr. Throneberry has been a resident of Rome since 1960 moving here to work for Floyd Medical Center. He was a graduate of David Lipscomb College, Nashville, TN and Wayne State University of Detroit, MI. He was employed for Floyd Medical Center for 35 years retiring as Executive Vice President.Mr. Throneberry was a member and former Elder of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and had served as a Deacon for the Central Church of Christ and an Elder for the West Rome Church of Christ. He was a charter member of the Model Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Sherrill Throneberry to whom he was married on August 24, 1957; children and grandchildren: Jenny Throneberry, Cindy Hayes, Amy Burkhalter, Cody Throneberry, Erica Throneberry, Kellen Churchill, Nicole Clemons, Colton Burkhalter and Emily Burkhalter all of Rome; one brother, Mr. Jimmy B. Throneberry and wife Barbara of Conway, Arkansas; two nephews: Dr. Bart Throneberry and Mr. Chris Throneberry.
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening, January 14, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Ministers Joey Haynes, Brian D?Herde, Lucian Harris and Alvis Miller officiating. Entombment will follow on Friday morning, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel Mausoleum of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Phil McHaffie and the Deacons of Oak Hill Church of Christ will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include the Elders of Oak Hill Church of Christ and Elder and Deacon nominees.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd. following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Oak Hill Church of Christ Building Fund or to the Model Ruritan Club.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
