Bruce Lee Brantly

Mr. Bruce Lee Brantly, age 83, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Atlanta, GA on December 21, 1931 a son of the late Howard Walter Brantly, Sr. and Emma Laura Ledbetter Brantly. Mr. Brantly was an honor graduate of Bolton High School and he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for twelve years. Mr. Brantly had been a resident of Rockmart since 1968 moving here from Smyrna, GA. He had been a member of the Aragon United Methodist Church for 38 years. Mr. Brantly worked as a dispatcher for McLean Trucking Co. from 1956 to 1965. In 1965 he began a twenty three year career with Lockheed-Martin Aircraft Corporation retiring in 1988. While at Lockheed he worked as a Shipping Supervisor and also worked on special projects. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, coin collecting, gold prospecting and construction projects at his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Brantly on February 25, 2013, by a daughter, Suzanne Brantly on March 31, 1965; by a sister Louise Chiselbrook and by a brother Howard Walter Brantly, Jr..

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Brantly Mixon, Rockmart; a son, Tim Brantly, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Stephanie Brantly, Brantly David Mixon, Ashley Toms, Alicia Brantly and Timothy Bruce Brantly; two great grandchildren: Alexis Defoor and Anslee Mullins; sister, Audrey Webb, Marietta and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aragon United Methodist Church with Rev. James Hannah officiating and eulogies given by Jimmy Buchanan and Larry Maxwell. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.

Mr. Brantly will lie instate at the Aragon United Methodist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Monday.

Pallbearers will include: David Mixon, Howard Brantly, Steve Wilson, Larry Maxwell, Jimmy Buchanan and Lee Burch. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ben Burch, David Webb, Tom Wilson, Mike Webb, Bobby Brantly, Ricky Brantly, Wayne Brantley and Carey Chiselbrook.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Bruce Lee Brantly.
