Calvin E. Roberson, Sr.

Mr. Calvin E. Roberson, Sr., age 91, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

He was born on June 4, 1925 a son of the late Jess Roberson and Savilla Suddeth Roberson. Mr. Roberson had lived in Rockmart the greater part of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of the Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion. Mr. Roberson was a retired employee of the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation having over thirty years of service. He enjoyed reading books, fishing, camping and watching college football.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marveen Hulsey Roberson on April 17, 2011; by a daughter, Peggy Smith; by a grandson, Scottie Lee Roberson; and by two sisters: Mildred Hindmon and Mae Mobley.

Survivors include two daughters: Diane Morgan, Rockmart and Patricia Stewart, Rockmart; three sons: Calvin E. Roberson, Jr., Brooks, GA, Larry Patterson, Rockmart and Harry Patterson, Rockmart; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 in charge of military honors.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
