Carl Lee "Goonie" Hufstetler

Mr. Carl Lee “Goonie” Hufstetler, age 67, of Cartersville, GA, passed away Wednesday evening, November 27, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Hufstetler was born in Cartersville on March 20, 1957, a son of the late Robert Alvin Hufstetler and Ruby Christine Waits Hufstetler. He had lived all his life in Bartow County and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. Goonie was an employee of Bartow County and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He cherished his time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hufstetler was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother, Robert Johnny Hufstetler, sister, Ann Dover, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pete and Faye Leachman, sister-in-law, Rachel Wilkey, along with several aunts and uncles.

Goonie is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Kathy Leachman Hufstetler; two daughters, Carman (Jody) Jones, and Carly (Phil) Drummond; four grandchildren, Joseph (Lindsey) Jones, Kaylee (Luke) Southern, Ericka Drummond, and Kyndall Drummond; three great-grandchildren, Hadley Grace Jones, Tucker Jones, and Jaycee Rae Southern; two sisters, Jean Sanford, and Frances Shoemaker; special nephew, Todd Sanford. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Hufstetler will be held on Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Ricky Allen and Rev. Robb Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery of Cartersville with Larry Towe in charge of graveside rites.

Goonie’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Saturday evening, November 30, 2024, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Jody Jones, Joseph Jones, Phil Drummond, Luke Southern, Todd Sanford, Jeremy Crumbley. Honorary pallbearers will include Toby Abernathy, Dicky Dalrymple, Mike Wilkey, Bobby Truett, and Hubert Lee.
