Carol Baker

February 28, 1940 — July 24, 2008

Mrs. Carol Baker, age 68, of 445 Chestnut Street Cedartown, GA passed away Thursday, July 24th at her residence following a four month illness.


Carol was born in Chattooga County, GA on February 28, 1940 a daughter of the late Stanley Waits and Effie Coker Waits. She had been a resident of Polk County the greater part of her life and was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Baker on October 19, 1979.


Mrs. Baker was a former employee of the Rockmart Police Department, the Cedartown Police Department and the Polk County Police Department. She was also one of the original operators in the start up of Polk County?s 911 Center. Mrs. Baker was presently employed in the office of the District Attorney of the Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit located in Cedartown.


Survivors include her three children: Mr. Brad Baker and his wife, Jennifer of Cedartown; Mrs. Anjeanette Medler and her husband, Brian of Tracy, California and Mr. Stan Baker and his wife Tracy of Conyers, GA; one brother, Mr. Dudley Waits, Rockmart; four sisters: Mrs. Ruth Howell, Lyerly, Mrs. Eddie Tinney, Summerville, Mrs. Faye Ozment, Summerville and Mrs. Edythe McGraw, Cedartown; six grandchildren: Brittany Baker, Brandon Baker, Alex Medler, Miranda Medler, Andrew Bishop and Cheyene Bishop.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 27th at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Ministers Wayne Baker and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Barry Henderson, Chad Chambers, John Adams, Hugh Gerald, Wayne Sanders and John Zuker. Honorary pallbearers will include: Scott Watts, Jimmy McLendon, Henry Runyon, Roy Mitchell, Kenny Dodd, Larry Odom and Tony McGraw.


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Carol Baker.
