Cecile B. Newberry

Ms. Cecile B. Newberry, age 56, of 105 Burton Drive, Rockmart passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 24, 2011.


Ms. Newberry was born in Athens, GA on December 13, 1954 a daughter of the late Charles Bridges and Sara Jackson Bridges. She had been a resident of Polk County for the past twelve years and was a member of Zion Church of Cedartown, GA. Ms. Newberry was an avid dancer in the church services. She received her Masters Degree from Shorter University. Ms. Newberry taught school for 25 years in the Polk School System with her last work at Cedartown Middle School.


Survivors include her best friend of 22 years, Rev. Donna Emmons, Rockmart; numerous friends and church family; several nieces and nephews, Heather Carr, Crystal Glyn-Jones, Ashley Emmons, Stephen Emmons, Jr., Cody Martin, Emily Emmons, Trey and Lane Emmons, Paige Baker, Jordon Emmons and Daylin Emmons. Also surviving are Don and Nina Emmons whom she called Mom and Pop.


Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Emmons and Apostle Trixie Morgan officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Polk Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will include: Stephen Emmons, Sr., Stephen Emmons, Jr., Darrell Emmons, Cody Martin, Amze White, Darrell Wofford, Terrrance Hood, Tamarcus Hood and Robert Jones.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
