Mr. Charles A. Brinkley, age 95, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Brinkley was born in Shannon, GA, on December 23, 1927, a son of the late William Howard Brinkley and Gladys Locklear Brinkley. He had been a resident of Rockmart for the past 69 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Brinkley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He retired from General Motors Doraville Assembly Plant after 35 years of service. Mr. Brinkley loved playing golf and watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events. He was an avid football fan, supporting both Georgia Tech and University of Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brinkley was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Keith Maulding, two granddaughters, one great-grandson, a sister, and three brothers.
Mr. Brinkley is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rachel Marchman Brinkley, whom he married July 31, 1954; four children, Darrell (Shelia) Brinkley, Rick (Debbie) Brinkley, Christy Maulding, and Mike (Amanda) Brinkley; three half-brothers, James Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Lewis Wilson. One half-sister, Jane Wilson Hicks. Eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Brinkley will be Monday, April 17, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Colt Deems officiating.
Mr. Brinkley’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Brinkley’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
