Mr. Charles Douglas Cochran, age 72, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 in a Rome medical center.
Charles was born in Paulding County, GA on May 7, 1942 a son of the late Hugh Dorsey Cochran and Opal Marie Carroll Cochran. Mr. Cochran had lived the greater part of his life in the Rockmart area and attended the Springdale Baptist Church. He retired from the General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant in 1990 and had also worked for APCO here in Rockmart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Earwood and a wife, Shirley Cochran.
Survivors include his wife, Deane Cochran of Rockmart to whom he was married in 2003; two sons: Billy Cochran and husband Barry, Dacula and Joey Cochran and wife Michelle, Rockmart; two step daughters: Rhonda Nicholson, Rome and Karen Ballard, Rockmart; one step son, Joey Coffman, Aragon; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a number of step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McDowell officiating and a eulogy given by his son, Billy Cochran. Interment will follow in the Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Chuck Ingle, Dekota Cook, Johnny Ballard, Ronnie Summerville and Franklin Morris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
