Charles Kenneth Bailey

Mr. Charles Kenneth Bailey, age 74,of Woodbine, GA passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Woodbine following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Anderson, SC on June 24, 1937 a son of the late Joe Bailey and Nellie Lou Dempsey Bailey. Mr. Bailey had lived in Marietta, GA for a number of years before moving to Rockmart, GA in 1989 where he made his home until 2003. He then returned to Anderson, SC where he had lived until most recently moving to Woodbine, GA. He retired from the Yellow Freight System where he had been employed for 34 years working in the Atlanta, GA area.

Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann White Bailey on June 10, 2002; by three sisters: Peggy Ann Bailey, Elizabeth Bailey Ginn and Bonnie Bailey Bloodworth and by two brothers: Joe Bailey, Jr. and Edward Lewis Bailey.

Survivors include daughters: Sherry Wharton (Jeff), Greer,SC, Cindy Hooper (Mark), Lake Toxaway, NC and Donna Hawkins (Barry), Cartersville,GA; sons: Michael Bailey, Anderson, SC, David Bailey, Dallas, GA and Dwayne Bailey, Rome, GA; sisters: Dorothy Jean Johnson (J.T.), Anderson,SC, Nellie Jo Columbo, Anderson, SC and Carolyn Ann Phillips (Charles), Jacksonville, FL; brother, Michael Dean Bailey, Anderson, SC; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with James McAlister speaking. Interment will follow in the Yorkville Memorial Gardens.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
