Charles W. Mason

Mr. Charles W. Mason, age 81, of 1009 N. Piedmont Avenue Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center following a three week illness.


He was born in Polk County, GA on May 7, 1928 a son of the late Charlie C. Mason and Ethel Jane Hulsey Mason. Mr. Mason had lived all of his life in Polk County where he was a member of the Baptist Church and a former employee of the Aragon Mill. He had also worked as a carpenter. Mr. Mason was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Dunn Mason on May 4, 2005 to whom he was married on June 15, 1953 and by a brother and a sister.


Survivors include his three children: Mrs. Linda Moore, Taylorsville, Mr. Barry Mason, Rockmart and Mr. Jeff Mason, Taylorsville; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Smith and Rev. Danny Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of Military Graveside Rites.


Pallbearers will include: Archie Bagley, David Bagley, Michael Bagley, Danny Poole, Barry Mason and John Redd.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
