Charlotte Wright Wood

Mrs. Charlotte Wright Wood, age 83, of 246 Runyon Loop Cedartown, GA passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 in Polk Medical Center of Cedartown following several months of declining health.


She was born in Polk County, GA on March 3, 1928 a daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Wright and Susie Mae Brown Wright. Mrs. Wood had lived the greater part of her life in the Antioch community of Polk County where she was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and for many years loved to work in her yard and garden. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband John Elmer Wood on May 22, 1999 and by two sisters, Mary Alice Broome and Cornelia Wright.


Survivors include her two sons: Gary Wood and wife Dorothy, Cedartown and Michael Wood , Cedartown; five grandchildren: Lance (Dawn) Wood, Anthony (Camron) Wood, Jamie Wood, Brad (Jennifer) Wood and Carrie (Richi) Moats; four great grandchildren: Brandon Wood, C.J. Norris, Brayden McCollum and John Thomas McCollum.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Wright and Rev. Bobby Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Lance Wood, Anthony Wood, Jamie Wood, Brad Wood, Brandon Wood and Richi Moats.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
