Claudie (Pete) Harrell

Mr. Claudie (Pete) Harrell, age 88, of 1547 Taylorsville Macedonia Road, Taylorsville, GA passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center following several years of declining health.


He was born in Sand Mountain, Alabama on December 6, 1921 a son of the late Jim Harrell and Mary Jones Harrell. Mr. Harrell had lived in Polk County the greater part of his life. He was a former sawmiller , loved to trade, work in the garden and play the guitar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Haney Harrell on February 1, 1986; by three sons: Jerry Rance Harrell in 1962, Curtis Dale Harrell in 1963 and Rex Allen Harrell in 2009; and by three brothers and three sisters.


Survivors include two daughters: Shelba Truett, Taylorsville and Judy Shanks, Rockmart; five sons: Terry Harrell, Cedartown, Jimmy Harrell, Cedartown, Robert Harrell, Bremen, Richard Harrell, Bremen and Joe Harrell, Rockmart; one sister, Myrtle Tucker, Wedowee, AL; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Wigley and Rev. Steven Ely officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
