Daniel E. (Danny) Floyd

Mr. Daniel E. (Danny) Floyd, age 79, of 114 Floyd Mountain Circle, Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center following an extended illness.


He was born in Cherokee County, AL on February 18, 1930 a son of the late Vinemon Floyd and Mildred Baldwin Floyd. Mr. Floyd had been a resident of Rockmart for the past 53 years. He was a member of the County Line Baptist Church and retired from the Goodyear Mill. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Gary Floyd on March 26, 2007.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Doris Potts Floyd of Rockmart to whom he was married on June 12, 1948; two daughters: Mrs. Ann Galloway, Albertville, AL and Mrs. Kayron Holbrooks, Cedartown, GA; one son, Mr. Keith Floyd, Piedmont, AL; four brothers: Mr. Edward Floyd, Powder Springs, GA, Mr. Carroll Floyd, Mobile, AL, Mr. Miron Floyd, Rockmart and Mr. Bill Floyd, Blairsville, GA; four sisters: Mrs. Helen Williams, Cedartown, Mrs. Dot Cradock, Clayton, GA, Mrs. Kathryn Chambers, Rome and Mrs. Wanda Wilson, Rockmart; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Jason Floyd, Dan Floyd, D.J. Floyd, Derrick Pope, Tyler Pope and Frank Moody.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Daniel E. (Danny) Floyd.
