Mrs. Doris Meers Brumit, age 69, of 211 Hightower Falls Road, Cedartown passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at a Rome Medical Center following several months of declining health.
She was born on September 23, 1939 in the Yorkville community of Polk County a daughter of the late Harry Meers and Martile Sanders Meers. Mrs. Brumit had lived all of her life in Polk County and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a former employee of the Rome News Tribune where she worked as a District Manager and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Larry Brumit of Cedartown to whom she was married on April 1, 1960; one son, Mr. Michael Brumit, Cedartown; three daughters: Mrs. Lori Forrister and her husband Kyle of Rockmart, Ms. Martie Carter, Cedartown and Ms. Margie Brumit, Cedartown; three grandchildren: Ashley Carter, Anna Forrister and Adam Brumit; one sister, Mrs. Mary Jackson, Rockmart ; two brothers: Mr. Charles Meers, Rockmart and Mr. Johnny Meers, Nashville, TN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20th. at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Ministers Craig Hallman and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
Nephews serving as pallbearers include: Eddie Meers, Larry Meers, Charlie Meers, Patrick Meers, Tim Robinson and David Gowens.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
