Doris W. Akins Lewis

Mrs. Doris W. Akins Lewis, age 88, of Aragon, GA passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, December 1, 2019.

She was born on May 12, 1931 a daughter of the late Riley Wade Akins and the late Eva Estelle Jacobs Akins. Mrs. Lewis lived the greater part of her life in Cobb County moving back to Polk County in 1989. She was of the Baptist faith, loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Horace Sterling Lewis on November 25, 2018; by four sisters: Mary Knowles, Ethel Jameson, Frances Meers and Mavis Tibbits and by three brothers: Mackie Akins, Melvin Akins and Charles Akins.

Survivors include a daughter, Eva Charlene Lewis, Dallas; two sons: David Lewis and his wife Kathy, Dahlonega and Gary Lewis and his wife DeAnn, Cedartown; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Sadie Pittman, Aragon, Joyce Hulsey, Aragon and Linda Lancaster, Mableton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Dan Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Jonathan Lewis, Evan Cochran, Edward Akins, Reggie Brumbelow, Dean Lewis and Steve Lewis.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
