Douglas M. Rayburn

Douglas M. Rayburn, age 82, of Aragon, GA, passed away Monday evening, September 30, 2024.

Doug was born in Rockmart, GA, on April 14, 1942, a son of the late Ollie S. Rayburn and Gertrude Caldwell Rayburn. He had lived the greater part of his life in Aragon and was a member of Aragon Baptist Church. Doug was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force and a member of the Daviette Lodge #513 F&AM. He was a lifetime mechanic and had worked for Nordic Cold Storage. Doug enjoyed golf, hotrod cars and was an avid NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Baldwin, son, Terry Rayburn, five brothers, Jack, Audie “Snookum”, Frank, Joe, and James Charles “J.C. Rayburn, and three sisters, Grace Dunaway, Clora Campbell, and Barbara Childers.

Doug is survived by his wife, Gail Rayburn, whom he married January 2, 1975; daughter, Marcy (Scott) Davis; son, Brent (Krista) Rayburn; ten grandchildren, Brett Warren, Cody Warren, Wes Baldwin, Casey Campbell, Chris Davis, Brandon Davis, Kaitlin Rayburn, Hayden Rayburn, Terry Rayburn, and Chase Rayburn; sister, Teresa Smith; brothers, Delmar Rayburn and Randy Rayburn. Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Doug will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Purser officiating. Interment will follow in Aragon Cemetery with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating and masonic graveside rites provided by the Daviette Lodge #513 F&AM along with the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club.. 

Doug’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Douglas M. Rayburn.
