Duane O. Davidson

Mr. Duane “Buddy” Davidson, age 83, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday morning, December 29, 2024, at his residence. 

Mr. Davidson was born in Rockmart on November 25, 1941, a son of the late Jack Leon Davidson and Laura Lee Davidson. He had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a graduate of Rockmart High School. Mr. Davidson was a very devoted member of Morning View Baptist Church. Mr. Davidson served with the Georgia National Guard as an analyst and retired after 44 years of service as a Master Sergeant. He was an avid reader and loved all things concerning the United States Civil War.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Hulsey Davidson, on October 31, 2013, whom he married April 5, 1997. Two brothers, Michael Lee Davidson and Donnie Davidson, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Davidson is survived by his children, Joey (Sonja) Davidson, Kim (David) Yarnell, Kris Jay, and Tytus (Valerie) McBryde; seven grandchildren, A.J. Brumbelow, Brad (Brooke) Brumbelow, Rebekah (Matt) Nabb, Makenna Davidson, Cayden McBryde, Brax McBryde, and Slade McBryde; three great-granddaughters, Adlee, Harper, and Sutton Brumbelow; sister, JoAnn Thomason; brother, Rev. Eddie (Joy) Davidson; mother of his children, Diane Davidson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Davidson will be held on Friday afternoon, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in Morning View Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Hulsey and Rev. Bill Heaton officiating. Mr. Davidson’s son, Tytus McBryde, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Bro. Joey Davidson officiating and Military Graveside Rites provided by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard.

Mr. Davidson’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The Military Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include A.J. Brumbelow, Brad Brumbelow, Rebekah Nabb, Makenna Davidson, Cayden McBryde, Braxton McBryde, Slade McBryde, Lynn Mullinax, and Ricky Hulsey.
