Mrs. Edna Phillips Ballard, age 82, of Cedartown, GA and formerly of Aragon passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Cedartown following an extended illness.
She was born in Floyd County, GA on June 4, 1931 a daughter of the late Riley Phillips and Velma Smith Phillips. Mrs. Ballard had lived the greater part of her life in Aragon where she was a member of the Aragon United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Rockmart High School, class of 1950. Prior to ill health she loved to cross stitch and she also loved fishing. Mrs. Ballard was a retired employee of Floyd Medical Center.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Edwin Ballard on December 15, 2007; by an infant sister, Doris Phillips and by two brothers: Leonard T. Phillips and J. B. Phillips.
Survivors include her four children: Michael E. Ballard, Rockmart, Shelia Potsialdo, Rockmart, Jean Price, Aragon and Lee Ballard, Aragon; twelve grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Scott Ballard, Jeremy Forsyth, William Bowman, David Etheridge, Andy Smith and Don Potsialdo.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
