Edward Swift

Mr. Edward Swift, age 71, of College Street Rockmart, GA passed away suddenly Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his residence.


He was born April 10, 1939 in Polk County, GA a son of Heslip Swift and Mildred Robinson Swift. Mr. Swift was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and had lived in the Rockmart area the greater part of his life. He was a former employee of Stratton of Cartersville. Mr. Swift was preceded in death by his father Heslip Swift and a brother, Tommy Swift.


Survivors include two sons: Calvin Swift , Heflin, AL and Jimmy Ray Swift , Rockmart; mother, Mildred Swift, Rockmart; four sisters: Glenda Guice, Rockmart, Sadie Locklear, Dallas, Carolyn Johnson, Rome and Charlotte Austin, Rockmart; one brother, Donnie Swift, Rockmart. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Revs. Tim Cole and Donnie Swift officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Doug Swift, Scottie Swift, Randy Akins, David Lipham, Timmy Johnson and Carey Canup.


The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
