Mrs. Edythe Effie McGraw, age 89, of Cedartown, GA passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in a Rome medical center following a brief illness.
She was born in Cedartown, GA on November 18, 1922 a daughter of the late George Stanley Waits and Effie Coker Waits. Mrs. McGraw had enjoyed a very successful business career in Metro Atlanta before returning to Rockmart in the early seventies. She had worked at Floyd Medical Center in Rome as a medical transcriptionist as well as owning and operating Antiques on Marble and Eddies? Shoes in Rockmart. She lived an exceptional life and was known as a very generous person giving of her time and talent. Mrs. McGraw was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, David McGraw and by two sisters: Faye Ozment and Carol Baker.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Tony and Peggy McGraw, Rockmart; two sisters: Ruth Howell, Summerville and Eddie (PeeWee) Tinney, Rome; one brother, Dudley Waits, Rockmart and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Ewell Price, Dee Price, Charles Ponder, Jim Denton, Bill Reid and Benjamin Ozment.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
