Mrs. Elizabeth Formby Cox, age 90, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in Cedartown.
She was born in Sumter County, GA on May 9, 1925 a daughter of the late Raymond Formby and Mittie Turner Formby. She had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Cox loved to garden and work with her flowers. She retired from Engineered Fabrics and was a member of the Twenty Five Year Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Cox on January 7, 2002 to whom she was married on September 27, 1940; by a grandson, Jeff McCready; by a brother, Cecil Formby; and by three sisters: Lorene Pope, Doris Wilson and Louise Roberson.
Survivors include five children: Barbara McCready and husband Bud, Palmetto, Ellen Cox, Cedartown, Ann Carter and husband Junior, Rockmart, Claudette Streetman, Rockmart and Ray Cox and wife Charlotte, Rockmart; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 at 12 noon in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Drummond officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Reb McCready, Donald Duggan, Mitch Duggan, David Streetman, Jason Carter and Junior Carter.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
