Ellen Hoag Thurman

Mrs. Ellen Hoag Thurman, age 78, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021.

Ellen was born in Troy, NY on June 6, 1943, a daughter of the late Clarence Hoag and the late Alida Lancing Hoag. She had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart and was of the Baptist faith. She had a love for her pets and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters: Katherine Wallord and Pam Winters; sister, Patricia Rhoades; brothers: John, Jimmy and Robert Hoag; and sons-in-law: Wayne Wofford, Rodney Pirkle and Jeff Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, John Thurman of Rockmart, to whom she was married on June 9, 1998; four daughters: Ellen Jones, Deborah Wofford, Alida Pirkle and Tammy Suggs; grandchildren: Terry Suggs, Wade Brooks, Richard Suggs, Crystal Thurman, Jacob Wofford, Paul Wofford, Heather Rutledge, Tiffany Suggs, Dorothy Pirkle, Rodney Pirkle, II, James Pirkle and Thomas Winters; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Mrs. Thurman’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no formal services will be held at this time.
