Mr. Ellis W. "Bill" Guice, age 82, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in a Rome medical center.
Mr. Guice was born in Cedartown, GA on July 29, 1934 a son of the late Lewis B. Guice and Edie Mae Gallimore Guice. He had lived in Polk County most his life; was a member of the Vanwert Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Guice retired from Atlanta Local # 85 Sheet Metal Union having worked at Plant Bowen for a number of years and following that retirement he worked for the City of Rockmart Public Works Department for several years. He enjoyed working in his garden and had a great love for his dog "Chico".
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons: Ricky and David Guice; two grandsons: Michael Robinson and Eric Guice; brother, Junior Guice; son in law, David Patterson and a daughter in law, Teresa Guice.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Guice of Rockmart to whom he was married on February 25, 1984; daughter, Sherry Patterson, Cedartown; son, Chris Guice, Dallas; step son, Randy Akins and wife Paula, Villa Rica; mother of his children, Charlene Guice, Cedartown; sister, Annelle Goldin, Cedartown; two brothers: James Guice, Cedartown and Rudolph Guice, Douglasville; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Head and Rev. Steven Swift officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include: Timmy Johnson, Doug Swift, Randy Akins, Deric Guice, Austin Guice and Craig Guice.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
