Elmer Newton Roberson

Mr. Elmer Newton Roberson, age 84, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Taylorsville, GA on October 21, 1931 a son of the late Henry Newton Roberson and Beulah Cox Roberson. Mr. Roberson had lived all of his life in Taylorsville where he was a member of the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon since 1959. He was a retired self employed concrete contractor. Mr. Roberson enjoyed gardening, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Williams Roberson on May 2, 2000; by a grandson Shane Roberson ; by two sisters: Faye Garrett and Christine Bailey and five brothers: Franklin, Stewart, Charles, Ray and Dean Roberson.

He is survived by a son, Larry Roberson (Mary), Jackson, GA; daughter, Lisa Bunch (Gary), Taylorsville; best friend and companion Freddie Wolfe, Taylorsville; her children who he called his own: Cindy Gurniewicz (John), Powder Springs, Lynn Lanier (Rusty), Taylorsville; Dawn Wood (Lance), Rockmart, Greg Wolfe, Taylorsville, Teresa Wilson (Kenneth), Cartersville and Patti Wheeler, Brandon, MS; sister, Glenda Garrett (Rev. Charles), Rockmart; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren ; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with Rusty Lanier officiating.

Mr. Roberson will lie instate at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service hour.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers and include: Faron Bailey, Tim Garrett, Matt Garrett, Danny Roberson, Gary Roberson, Jackie Roberson and David Williams.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Elmer Newton Roberson.
