Mr. Emil Potsiadlo, age 92, of East Jackson Street Rockmart passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 in a Rome medical center.
He was born on December 24, 1918 a son of the late Anthony Potsiadlo and Sophie Kutzel Potsiadlo. Mr. Potsiadlo had been a resident of Rockmart since 2003 moving here from Connecticut. He was of the Catholic faith and a former employee of Edgecomb Steel. Mr. Potsiadlo was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He served in Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Potsiadlo was wounded in the European Theater on July 17, 1944. He received the following decorations and citations: Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Potsiadlo in April of 2000 and a brother Mitchell Potsiadlo.
Survivors include a son Don Potsiadlo and his wife Shelia, Rockmart; brother, Leo Potsiadlo, Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, September 25, 2011 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with Military Honors.
