Esmer B. Bishop

Mr. Esmer B. Bishop, age 76, of Rockmart passed away Friday, November 25, 2011.


He was born in Haralson County, GA on April 13, 1935 a son of the late Joseph M. Bishop and Liddy Bell Moon Bishop. Mr. Bishop had lived in Polk County the greater part of his life where he was a self employed plumber. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. While in the military he served in Korea, Germany, Japan and England. Mr. Bishop was of the Baptist faith.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: C.J., Doyal, Bill and Thurston Bishop; four sisters: Lenora Callahan, Lola Carey, Ann Lynn and Vera Countryman; and a grandson, Anthony D. Bishop, Jr.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annette Roberson Bishop to whom he was married on May 18, 1956; two sons: Anthony D.(Tony) Bishop, Sr. and Michael Bishop and wife Lori all of Rockmart; four grandchildren and one great grandson .


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Euharlee Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Moore and Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating. Interment will take place in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with military honors.


Pallbearers will include: D.J. Bishop, Mike Bishop, Matt Bishop, Cody Holmes, Charles Bishop and Tim Duren. Honorary pallbearers will include Hal Brown and George Goswick.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
