Mrs. Essie Mae Stegall, age 90, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Paulding County, GA on January 13, 1926 a daughter of the late Joe Williams and Oda Jane Thompson Williams. Mrs. Stegall had lived the greater part of her life in the Paulding and Polk County area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Smyrna Methodist Church. Mrs. Stegall loved music, gardening and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bomar Wingo on February 18, 1960; by her second husband, Harry Stegall on February 11, 2005; by three sisters: Della Baggett, Myrtle Thompson and Joanna Tant; by three brothers: Lloyd Williams, Tom Fred Williams and Claude Williams; by sons: Winfred Stegall and Sonny Stegall; daughter, Harriet Stegall; granddaughter, Jill Coffman and by a grandson, Colby Rutledge.
Survivors include three daughters: Melissa Rutledge, Cedartown, Kathy Lindsey, Rockmart and Pam Leatherwood, Powder Springs; four sons: Joey Wingo, Rockmart, Stevie Wingo, Rockmart, Todd Stegall, Rockmart and Tony Stegall, Dallas; one sister, Millie Tant, Rockmart; twenty one grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Delton Harne officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
