Mr. Eugene Talmadge Yarbrough, age 84, of Carrollton, GA passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his residence.
Talmadge was born at home in Aragon, GA on September 24, 1933 a son of Albert M. Yarbrough, Sr. and Betty Irene Caldwell Yarbrough. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from the General Motors Corporation having worked at the Lakewood assembly plant for thirty five years. Mr. Yarbrough was also a member of Local 34 of the United Auto Workers Union. He has lived in Carrollton for the past ten years moving there from the Mableton area. Mr. Yarbrough was a member of the Eureka Baptist Church. He loved spending time with family and friends, working in his yard ,gardening and woodworking.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters: Velma Durham, Margaret Yarbrough, Frances Yarbrough, Geneva Yarbrough and Mildred Warren and by five brothers: Carl, J.P., Johnny, Glenn and Albert M. Yarbrough, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Joyce Yarbrough, Carrollton to whom he was married on July 30, 1955; daughter, Sabriena Wyatt and her husband Tommy, Waco; son, Dennis "Dink" Yarbrough, Carrollton; grandchildren: Chad & Heather Yarbrough, Brittany & David Thompson, Bo& Kristen Wyatt, Jonathan Yarbrough and Sydney Wyatt & Cory Pearson; great grandchildren: Avery & Kamryn Thompson, Madalyn Yarbrough, Molly & Hannah Yarbrough, Memphis McKenzie, Christopher, Zackery and Matthew Morgan and baby to be Pepper Pearson; sister, Martha Kell, Douglasville and brother, Melvin Yarbrough, Rockmart; numerous nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in law also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Goddard and Rev. Russell Shadrix officiating and granddaughter Brittany Thompson delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post #12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.
The following gentlemen will serve as active and honorary pallbearers and are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 PM on Friday. Active: Chad Yarbrough, Bo Wyatt, David Thompson, Cory Pearson, Terry Dorris and Brad Yarbrough. Honorary: Jonathan Yarbrough, Steve Yarbrough, Randy Dorris and K.V. Scoggins.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 PM at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted. His church family may make memorial gifts in Mr. Yarbrough's memory to the Eureka Baptist Church, 641 Eureka Church Road Carrollton, GA 30117.
