Eunice D. Yancey

Mrs. Eunice D. Yancey, age 88, of Aragon, GA passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Rome, GA.

She was born in Anniston, AL on August 22, 1929, a daughter of Harl C. Duffey, Sr. and Laurah Haywood Duffey. Her family moved to Rome shortly after her birth and she grew up with seven brothers and sisters. In 1946 she married Jack L. McGinnis, Sr.. They made their home in Rome until his death in 1960.

While working at GE in Rome, Eunice met Jay T. Yancey, Jr. and in 1967 the couple married and moved to Rockmart. She was a homemaker for several years before going to work at Integrated Products (Aragon) in 1972. As Personnel Manager she loved working with people and made a huge impact on many employees in her Human Resources role. People still often speak today of her influence on them.

Eunice enjoyed cooking and loved entertaining her family and friends. She and Jay enjoyed their home and were always proud to host numerous church and family events, including several weddings. She was a member and past treasurer of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands Jack L. McGinnis, Sr. in November of 1960 and Jay T. Yancey, Jr. in April of 2006 and by two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are six children: Jack McGinnis, Jr.(Gloria), Roswell, Jean Coalson (Tony), Rockmart, Danny McGinnis (Kathe), Winter Springs, FL, Judith M. Jackson (David), Rockmart, David McGinnis (Judy), Marietta and Tim McGinnis (Connie), Aragon; sister, Harriett Blair, Gainesville; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Rockmart First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeanette Dickens and Rev. Martha Dye officiating. Mr. Jack McGinnis, Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Chris Gordon, Trent McGinnis, Casey McGinnis, John McGinnis, Jordon Jackson and Kevin Deems. Honorary pallbearers will include: Will Deems, Cole Deems, Cody Fannin, Andy McGinnis, Bryson Bell, Matthew Gordon and Jay McGinnis.

The family will receive friends Sunday at the Rockmart First United Methodist Church from 2:00 pm until the funeral hour.
