Mrs. Evelyn Free, age 72, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Thursday October 1, 2015 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born in Polk County, GA on July 30, 1943, a daughter of the late L. B. Carter and Ollie Mae Ferguson Carter and was a 1961 graduate of Rockmart High School. She had lived the greater part of her life in the Taylorsville area where she was a member of the Floyd Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Free loved working with flowers, crocheting, cooking and was a wonderful homemaker. She retired in 2008 from Shaw Industries of Cartersville
.
Survivors include her husband, Crawder Free of Taylorsville to whom she was married on October 6, 1962; three children: Angela Butler and husband Andy, Taylorsville, Pam Ferguson and husband Darrell, Dallas and Gerald Free and wife Heather, Taylorsville; sister, Dorothy Wood and husband Gary, Cedartown; six grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Shepard and Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Haynie Cochran, Claude Smith, David Smith, Louie Brock, Junior Neal, Henry Holmes and Eddie Newman. Honorary pallbearers will include: Justin Free, Alexis Free, Nicole Free, Cody Ferguson, Nick Ferguson, Sammy Simmons, Eddie Goss and Jimmy Morris

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
