Felton Lee (Pete) Lanier

Mr. Felton Lee (Pete) Lanier, age 91, of Rockmart, GA passed away in Rome, GA on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

He was born in Calhoun, GA on May 25, 1928 a son of the late William Arthur Lanier and the late Cora Bell Black Lanier. Mr. Lanier had been a resident of Rockmart since 1959 and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Oostanaula High School and had served in the United States Army Reserve. In 1959 he opened Rockmart Appliance Service and continued to work in appliance repair until he celebrated his 90th. birthday. He was an avid wood worker, enjoyed gardening and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. Pete also enjoyed his many friends in the Bojangles Breakfast Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Maxwell Lanier on April 29, 2014 and by five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three children: Donna Burrage (Ikey), Summerville, Barry Lanier (Leela), Marietta and Shelly Buford, Rome; grandchildren: Carson and Kendall Buford and Joey and Randy Juggassar; great grandchildren: Mae, Mason and Alani Juggassar; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 5:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Aaron Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday from 3:00 pm until the memorial hour at the funeral home.
