Frances Ruth "Fran" Long

Mrs. Frances Ruth “Fran” Long, age 83, of Rockmart, GA passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022.

Mrs. Long was born on July 14, 1938 in Memphis, TN to her parents: John Medley and Mary Moody Medley. Fran lived her childhood years in Memphis, TN before moving to Rockmart in 1964. She was a graduate of Central High School in Memphis. Fran was an active member of First Baptist Church where she was involved with the church choir. She was also a member of The Golden Age Club. She loved to cook and enjoyed riding bikes when she was younger. Mrs. Long was retired from The City of Rockmart where she had worked in the billing office for several years. Fran was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Harry Long and four sisters: Oma Lever, Jean Lever, Jo Alice Root and Roberta Holmes.

She is survived by her loving sons: Randy Long (Bess) of Easley, S.C., Stephen Long (Terri) of Cedartown, GA and Marc Long (Trisha) of Rome, GA; nine grandchildren: Danielle Warren, Rachel Sikes, Joshua Long, Joshua Clonts, Adam Clonts, Carrie Beth Long, Lindsey Johnson, Madelyn Johnson and Jenna Johnson; four great-grandchildren: Kirkland Warren, Lucas Warren, Caspian Warren and Benjamin Clonts; sister, Nora Rodriquez of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, John Medley of Memphis, TN and numerous loving nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Long will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM in The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jason Odom officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Randy Long, Stephen Long, Marc Long, Alex Warren, Joshua Long and James Sikes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Brad Holmes, Russ Holmes, Phillip Moore and Richard Davis.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or The American Red Cross in memory of Mrs. Long.
