George William Rakestraw, Jr.

Mr. George William Rakestraw, Jr., age 62, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023.

George was born in Kissimmee, FL, on June 1, 1960, a son of Margaret Ingram Rakestraw and the late George William Rakestraw, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. He had been a resident of Polk County since 1992 and was a forklift operator for Life Foam Industries. George was an avid fisherman and loved riding his Harley motorcycle. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his father, George was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Rakestraw, a grandson, Trenton Rutledge, and a great-grandson, Preston Whitehead.

George is survived by his wife, Deborah Hall Rakestraw, whom he married October 4, 1985; two daughters, Aubrey Rakestraw (Heather) of Rockmart, and Christina Rutledge of Cedartown; six grandchildren, Zoey Rutledge, Rilee Ford, Brandon Whitehead, Seth Whitehead, William Whitehead, and Alex Whitehead; mother, Margaret Rakestraw, brother, David Rakestraw of Cedartown; sister, Donna Pilgrim of Cedartown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for George will be Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with eulogies provided by family and friends.

George’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
