Gladys Irene Smith Demore

Mrs. Gladys Irene Smith DeMore, age 88, of Aragon, GA passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Sale City, GA on August 21, 1926 a daughter of the late Earnest "Slick" Smith and Nellie Jarrell Smith. Mrs. DeMore had been a resident of Polk County since 1973 moving here from Rome. She was a Christian who loved spending time with her family and gardening. She also had a great love for her pets.

Mrs. DeMore was a member of the Rockmart-Aragon Rebecca Lodge # 28 and was a member of the Rockmart Chapter # 321 Order of the Eastern Star since 1989 and served as Worthy Matron in 1995.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward Smith and Albert Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Parris (P.R.) DeMore of Aragon to whom she was married on September 19, 1948; two daughters: Judy Ozment, Aragon and Terry Abston and her husband Walter of Forsyth, GA; two brothers: Ivines Smith, Hickory, NC and Grady Smith, Leesburg, GA; five grandchildren: Katrina Ozment ,Aragon, Mandy Richardson, Rockmart, Joshua Ozment, Aragon, Benjamin Ozment, Rockmart and Angelia Bailey, Forsyth; ten great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with members of her family delivering eulogies. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Gary Diggs praying.

Pallbearers will include: Joshua Ozment, Benjamin Ozment, Bryan Richardson, Mark DeMore, Walter Abston and Morris Morris. Blake and Jennifer Zuker will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
