Glenda Gene Reed

Mrs. Glenda Gene Reed, age 62, of Rockmart passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 in a Rome medical center.


She was born in Birmingham, AL on November 22, 1948 a daughter of the late Gene Wright and Agnes Coats Wright. Mrs. Reed had been a resident of Rockmart since 1984 and was of the Methodist faith. She was a former beautician having worked at Great Clips. Mrs. Reed loved to sew and enjoyed creative art. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Wayne Reed on July 5, 1996.


Survivors include three daughters: Heather Shelton, Florence, S.C., Tiffany Webb, Dallas, GA and Bridgette Antinozzi, Baumholder, Germany; one son, Nicholas Reed, Rockmart, GA; three grandchildren: Hunter Reed, Macaden Reed and James Webb, IV; two sisters: Janet VonWebb, Bowling Green, KY and Nancy Reid Ludwig, Murfreesboro, TN; five brothers: William David Wright, Lilburn, GA, Jimmie Reid, Canton, GA, Scott Wright, Birmingham, AL, Kurt Wright, Birmingham, AL, and Gary Wright, Melbourne, FL;step mother, Johnnie Wright, Birmingham, AL a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Coats officiating and a eulogy given by her sister Mrs. Janet VonWebb. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Ken Coats, Steven Blalock, Frank Robinson, Larry Webb, Donald Boe, Jr. and Kevin Coats.


The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of her daughter, Tiffany Webb, 311 Oscar Way, Dallas, GA 30132.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Glenda Gene Reed.
