Glenda Mae Deaton

Mrs. Glenda Mae Deaton, age 68, of Aragon, GA passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 in an Atlanta hospital.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on July 17, 1944 a daughter of Willie Levi Hicks and Willie Mae Roberts Hicks. Mrs. Deaton had lived in Atlanta and Cobb County, GA before returning to Polk County in 1995. She was a member of the Seney Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Van Hicks.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Deaton of Aragon to whom she was married on May 6, 1961; four children: Darrell Deaton, Tellico Plains, TN, Kathy Burt, Cartersville, GA, Karen Pilgrim, Kennesaw, GA and Tim Deaton, Acworth, GA; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Darin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Gary Burt, Ricky Miller, Quinton Knight, Mike Burns, Nick Goings and Corey Deaton.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
