Glenn Harper

Mr. Glenn Harper, age 76, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, February, 18, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on February 28, 1939, a son of the late William P.(Mule) Harper, Sr. and the late Frances Louise Matthews Harper. Mr. Harper had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Oostanaula Lodge #113 F. & A. M.. Mr. Harper was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and he had a great love for his cows and cattle farming. He spent his working career with the Floyd County Police Department where he retired as Captain after 22 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement from the police department he went to work for the Floyd County Board of Education where he served as transportation director for 11 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William (Bill) Harper Jr. and a sister Diane Holley.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Miriam Wood Harper of Rockmart, GA, to whom he was married on April 19, 1958; three children: James Timothy Harper, Cherokee County, AL, Mark Rodney Harper, Floyd County, GA and Cindy Ann Harper, Rockmart, GA; three grandchildren: Travis Sprayberry, Zachery Glenn Harper and Kaley Dover; two great grandchildren: Lindsey Harper and Kamree Dover; two brothers: Bob Harper, Rockmart, GA and Doug Harper, Carrollton, GA; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens of Rome, GA with Rev. Anthony Trawick officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support of friends and family given to Glenn and all the family during this time.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Glenn Harper.
