Gordon C. Thompson

Mr. Gordon C. Thompson, age 81, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.

Mr. Thompson was born in Albany, GA, on July 2, 1941, son of the late James C. Thompson and Martha Carter Thompson. He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Mr. Thompson had worked with Atlanta Structural Concrete for over forty years, retiring as a shop foreman. In his off time, he loved fishing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by sisters, Rosie Williams and Bobbie Lyles, and a brother, Donnie Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Opal Knowles Thompson; children, Tracy (Norman) Edgar of Newnan, GA, Jill (Bill) Hayes of Rome, GA, and Kristy (Joey) Grant of Lithia Spring, GA; brother, James Thompson of Rockmart; sister, Linda of Buchanan, GA. Eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Thompson will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday morning, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Euharlee Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Chambers officiating.
